Sand

The sand assists in keeping the synthetic grass in an upright manner and to maximise its ability to withstand the wear and tear of normal everyday traffic.

Sand comes in 25kg bags. Central Turf recommends applying 5kg of sand per square meter of artificial turf. The sand provides the foundation for the synthetic grass for withstanding normal traffic and gives the grass the spring to come upright after being walked upon by people and animals.

Joining Tape

Joining tape is used where two pieces of artificial turf require joining together. The joining tape must be cut for the length of the join and placed under the proposed join. Once the joining tape is applied the synthetic grass can be joined in a hidden and seamless manner.

Joining tape comes in 10m roles.

Nails

4″ (100mm) flat head galvanised nailĀ are used to secure the synthetic grass to the ground. We recommended that one nail be placed approximately 1 meter apart around the perimeter where required.

Central Turf can supply you the required nails, which are included free of charge with any DIY Kit.

Just like natural grass, there are a variety of products which can be used for edging, depending on your required finished appearance. Timber surrounds, flags, soil, stone and specialist plastic and metal edging strips are all ideal.

Yes. Fixing is strongly recommended to prevent the surface lifting in the wind and to ensure safety. Certain adhesives are better than others, especially with asphalt roofs.

Yes, provided it is possible to walk up the slope. On steep slopes extra fixing is required at regular intervals to avoid slipping.

Safety

Child and pet friendly and strong enough to last in high-traffic areas. Pet faeces can be removed with a shovel, and urine washes through the system. It’s no different than natural grass. Of course, children should be encouraged to use a bathroom.
