1. Ground Clearing

Excavate existing debris such as sod, rocks etc. Make sure ground is clear of any obstructions. This is vital for long term quality installation. Level site to desired requirements. Turf has drain holes in mat to allow for drainage.

2. Base Preparation

A fine road base or crushed rock should be spread evenly, smoothly as possible and compacted using a vibratory compactor to a min depth of 60mm depending on your site requirement. Allow a fall for excess water to penetrate through the turf and drain away. When compacting, continue to add water. This will create a firm base.

3. Turf Laying

Determine the best way to layout your lawn. Turf comes in two roll widths, 3.75 metre and 1.87 metre, each roll is 20 metres in length. When laying the turf make sure the grain in the fibres are running in the same direction. Place turf over prepared site, keeping roll edges as close together as possible. This will give you a perfect join.

4. Seaming & Joining

Where two pieces of grass come together you will need to make a seam. Fold your roll edges back to allow the joining tape to fit under both edges of the length of the roll. Peel off backing from joining tape and press firmly along the join.

5. Cutting Turf

Next step is to trim the turf to suit your area. Use scissors or a blade knife to trim around borders, rocks, paths, etc.

6. Securing turf

You will need to secure turf to the base by using 100mm nails approximately 1 metre around the perimeter where required.

7. Infill

Synthetic lawns require infilling with fine dry sand. This process creates a soft feel and also acts as an anchor and stabilises fibres.

Process

Apply a dressing of fine dry sand. Firstly spread a layer of sand over the entire area of the lawn. Use a seed drop spreader. This will ensure the correct amount of infill required per square metre. Brush in against grain using a broom or power broom. Five kilograms of sand should be used for each square metre of turf.

Your installation is complete – sit back, relax and enjoy!
